I create 49 sentences with the subject ‘mail art’, the predicates ‘irritates’, ‘inspires’, ‘offends’, ’empowers’, ‘comforts’, ‘annoys’, ‘connects’, and the objects ‘people’, ‘strangers’, ‘nobody’, ‘authorities’, ‘friends’, ‘society’, ‘demons’. I type them on 49 postcards using a typewriter and send them to artists and institutions across 17 countries.
Work statement

As a newcomer to the mail art scene, I am intrigued and a little uneasy about the effect an unexpected postcard from a stranger might have on the person who finds it in their mailbox. Will it irritate, annoy, inspire the recipients? As much as I wish to inspire, I must admit that provoking a quiet sense of disturbance would also align with my intentions.

By creating the 49 sentences of what mail art might trigger, I explore the possible consequences of my actions and inevitably arrive at one of my core aims as an artist: to make people pause and reflect. Even if the result of that contemplation leads to “What the fuck?!” followed by the postcard being tossed away.
